School districts continue to face unprecedented challenges when attempting to balance sound educational programs with fiscally responsible budgets. The Capital Region BOCES Grants & Development Service offers a flexible range of services, from basic workshops and access to an online searchable database, to editing of grant proposals and start-to-finish grantwriting. Our staff includes grant-writing experts with proven success in writing and obtaining local, state and federal grants.
Our staff offers help with a variety of funding options, from teachers applying for small classroom grants to districts looking to coordinate large grants with other schools and/or community organizations/businesses. Plus, our grants database puts a varied and comprehensive list of educational funding options targeted to schools at your fingertips.
To best serve the needs of school districts, four levels of service are available: (prices listed below are for 2012-2013)
Free
for all component school districts. Also
free for non-component districts that
contract for Level 2 or Level 4 service.
Weekly
e-mail list of grant opportunities sent to
unlimited number of staff members in your
district.
Access
to searchable online database of more than
390 grant opportunities
(and growing!) targeted to school
districts in this region. Funding options
include individual grants (example: single
teacher applying for a classroom grant) to
more complex partnership grants (those
requiring a consortium of schools, districts
and/or other organizations).
Annual
workshop for staff on grant writing,
developing ideas for fundable projects or
other topics as
requested by participating districts.
The 2012 workshops have passed,
but we anticipate offering the next workshops in February 2013.

Grants
and Development Service staff meet annually with
district staff to complete a
needs assessment and help districts determine and
outline fundable projects/proposals.
Research
and identification of viable grant
opportunities (a minimum of three) that
would be good matches for priority
projects.
Support
and coaching for writing proposals (up to
16 hours).
Assistance
with identifying potential
collaborations/partnerships.
Level 3: Grantwriter (Hourly)

services Capital Region BOCES can also help with your other educational development needs. Long term goals include helping districts establish new funding opportunities, such as designing website underwriting programs. |
Work can include any of the following:
Writing
grant proposals or editing proposals written by district staff.
Support
and coaching for district staff
members writing grants.
Assistance
identifying and facilitating collaborations/partnerships.
Follow-up
on proposals submitted.
Additional
coaching on program/project development.
Customized
workshops on grant-writing fundamentals
for district teams.
Client districts need not purchase Level 2 to hire the service for Level 3 assistance.
