arrow bulletSummary of draft regulations and SAANYS recommendations

From SAANYS: SED has issued DRAFT regulations implementing the new APPR law, which may be found on the first page of the SED website. About one dozen SAANYS members from around the state participated on the Regents Task Force on Teacher and Principal Effectiveness, along with representatives of various other stakeholder groups. Ultimately, however, it is the commissioner's office that authored the draft regulations to be considered by the Board of Regents.

Provided herein are two documents. The first is a summary of the regulations without any editorializing or comment. The second document is an identification of what we believe to be important issues regarding the draft regulations. These concerns have been presented to the commissioner's office and to each individual member of the Board of Regents. Please note that unless modified, SED and the Board of Regents are accepting comments only until April 29. Comments or questions should be directed to Jim Viola, director of government relations, at Jviola@saanys.org.
