New Race To The Top website a statewide resource

National Staff Development Council Coaches Academy training announced

arrow bulletCapital Region BOCES is pleased to announce a Coaching Academy with instruction provided by coaching experts from the National Staff Development Council (NSDC).

Tuesday-Thursday, April 26-28
8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.,
Celtic Hall, 430 New Karner Road, Albany

Tuesday-Thursday, May 24-26
8:30 am – 3:30 pm
Capital Region BOCES,
900 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Albany

The cost is $770 per person, and includes six days of training (including lunch), one day on-site coaching work with a project coordinator, books and a one-year membership to the National Staff Development Council.

The Board of Regents would like your feedback on a College and Career Readiness Survey, which focuses on three topics: College and Career Readiness Frameworks, Necessary Skills and Knowledge for College and Workforce Success, and New York State Graduation Requirements (current requirements can be found at http://www.p12.nysed.gov/ciai/gradreq/gradreq3columnstyle01_10.pdf ).

The survey should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete and it must be completed in one session.

This survey is one aspect of a series of meetings, presentations, and data collection processes conducted in 2010 by the NYS Board of Regents' College and Career Readiness Working Group. Results of the survey will be shared with the Board of Regents at their March meeting.

The deadline for your input is January 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Thank you in advance for your time and your continued support of all students in New York State. Your input matters!

Professional development is at the heart of effective teaching and school reform. Current economic and educational climates, especially new regulations about standards and assessing student learning, require districts to develop effective, focused and efficient district capacity for professional learning. Designing, implementing and evaluating essential and effective teams for educators of widely varying assignments and levels of experience is both a critical and complicated endeavor.

This institute will provide instruction on designing and facilitating focused and strategic professional learning around a wide variety of work. Topics will include:

bulletDeveloping adult learning facilitation and coaching skills

bulletProtocols, facilitation, and presentation skills around collaborative professional learning

bulletSkills around building and sustaining professional learning communities.

bulletTrust/Building Relationships
