University at Albany recognizes District Superintendent 

Dedrick wins Excellence Award

Congratulations to District Superintendent Charles Dedrick, who recently received a 2011 University at Albany Alumni Association Excellence Award, honoring his contributions to society.

Dedrick was one of 12 university alumni recognized at an awards ceremony on April 30. He received the "Excellence in Education" award, recognizing his accomplishments in education. The ceremony took place at the Crowne Plaza, and many BOCES Board of Education members and staff were on hand to congratulate Dedrick.

Dedrick has master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Policy Studies and in Developmental Reading from the University at Albany, as well as a doctorate of education in Educational Leadership from Russell Sage Graduate School. Previous to becoming district superintendent of Capital Region BOCES in 2008, he served as Cohoes City School District Superintendent for nine years. He also previously served as a social studies teacher, school principal, business manager and superintendent in the Green Island School District.
