Dedrick filling in during search process

District Superintendent Charles Dedrick has been named interim district superintendent at Questar III BOCES, as that BOCES begins its search to hire a new district superintendent.

The move follows the exit of Questar III BOCES District Superintendent James Baldwin, who has been named chief of staff for New York State Education Department Commissioner David Steiner. Dedrick's appointment is effective October 14. Read Commissioner Steiner's letter appointing Dedrick.

Questar III has already hired a chief operating officer, L. Jeffrey Baltes, to oversee day-to-day operations. Dedrick will be responsible for Questar III's state-level work with the New York State Education Department.

Legally BOCES are required to have an interim district superintendent (appointed by the NYS Commissioner of Education) as they search for a new district superintendent. During the 2009-2010 school year Dedrick served as interim district superintendent for the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES.
