Inquiry learning is “an investigative process that engages students in answering questions, solving real world problems, confronting issues, or exploring personal interests.” It embraces national and state Common Core Standards, 21st century skills and productive pedagogy. Students are involved in a cycle of questioning, investigating, verifying and generating knowledge products in an environment of differentiated instruction. Teams of educators work collaboratively to engage students in meaningful and relevant knowledge of the content areas. Participants walk away with lessons or units that have been strengthened and converted to inquiry based lessons. Introductory and in-depth workshops include “Growing Into Inquiry,” “Evidence Based Practice” and “Redesigning Research” but may be customized to meet district needs.
