Students in grades four through eight and under the age of 16 can represent their districts in a Regional Spelling Bee sponsored each year in March by the BOCES, The Times Union, Hannaford Supermarkets, the Upper Hudson Library System and Time Warner. The Regional Bee will be televised from Proctors Theatre on Time Warner Cable television. The winning student goes on to compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. at the end of May.
