Matrix Definitions
I=Introduce – to provide with beginning knowledge
or first experience.
- Assumes learner knows very little
or nothing about this topic/skill.
- Assumes the learner needs to
start from scratch with this topic/skill.
- Assumes the learner is
unfamiliar with the vocabulary of this topic/skill.
D= Develop – to become more complex and intricate, to
add details and fullness.
- Assumes that student has basic knowledge of this topic/skill.
- Assumes
that the learner requires continued instruction on this topic.
E=Expand – to become greater in size, quantity or scope.
- Assumes
that student is proficient at this topic/skill and is ready to
be move to a more complex level.
- Assumes students are ready to learn
more sophisticated language
associated with this topic/skill.
A=Apply – to put into action
- Assumes student is very knowledgeable
on this topic/skill and can perform independently.
- Assumes the learner
could explain/teach this topic/skill to others.
